Jakarta, April 6, 2021 - After an earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale hit Mamuju and Majene in West Sulawesi (14/1), causing a number of multi-storey buildings around the earthquake site were badly damaged to collapse. The disaster that occurred in early 2021 made PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) move responsively to deploy heavy equipment for evacuation and also carry out rehabilitation and reconstruction of local government buildings. Not only carrying out building rehabilitation, the emergency response carried out by Brantas Abipraya after the earthquake to revive West Sulawesi included deploying heavy equipment to dismantle ruins of houses and buildings, piles of concrete and iron. The four excavators and eight dump trucks brought by Brantas Abipraya exactly the day after the earthquake also helped open road access and clear debris.
"As a form of Brantas Abipraya's commitment as a state-owned construction company that is always there for Indonesia, we will focus on completing the rehabilitation of the buildings, 17 buildings can be completed on time so that the people here can get back up again, have activities like they used to be," said Danang. .
As additional information, the earthquake in Mamuju which occurred on the date; January 14, 2021 is centered six kilometers northeast of Majene Regency 2.98 LS-118.94 East Longitude at a depth of 10 kilometers. Aftershocks with a magnitude of 6.2 occurred again and lasted for 5 to 7 seconds.
The tremors were felt in Mamuju, Makassar and Palu and damaged several buildings, including Mamuju Hospital, West Sulawesi Governor Office and Mamuju Hospital. This earthquake also caused landslides at 3 points along the Majene-Mamuju main road, so that road access was cut off.
