Nganjuk, August 3, 2021 – PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) strengthens its position as a State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) construction company that excels in building dams, apart from working on the tallest dam in Southeast Asia, namely the Bener Dam, currently Brantas Abipraya is also completing The longest dam in Southeast Asia is the Semantok Dam, located in Nganjuk Regency, East Java. The dam is targeted for completion in 2022.
"Yes, this project is targeted for completion next year, because later the Semantok Dam is projected to strengthen water and food security in Nganjuk and its surroundings," said Miftakhul Anas as Corporate Secretary of Brantas Abipraya.
Adding to his explanation, Anas said that the dam, which will be the longest in Southeast Asia, has a dam crest length of 3,100 meters. The dam with a zonal type random fill with an upright core has a height of 31.56 meters. Later, this dam can accommodate water with a total capacity of 32.67 million cubic meters and an area of 365 hectares of inundation, so that later during the dry season this dam can supply water. So people no longer need to be afraid of being hit by drought in their rice fields. It can also increase agricultural productivity, because it can irrigate almost 2,900 hectares of rice fields.
Not only that, the presence of the Semantok Dam can also provide benefits as a flood controller, because of its large capacity, this makes the dam able to hold abundant water during the rainy season. Later it also has the potential to provide raw water of 312 liters per second.
"In addition, the existence of the Semantok Dam can also reduce the risk of flooding by 137 cubic meters per second. With the completion of the Semantok Dam later, we hope to add to the list of dams built by Brantas Abipraya in East Java, after the inauguration of the Tukul Dam by President Joko Widodo in Pacitan Regency earlier this year," said Anas.
