Newly Inaugurated by the President, This is the Largest Dam in NTB by Brantas Abipraya.

Jakarta, January 17, 2022 - Known as a construction BUMN (State Owned Enterprise) that excels in dam construction, the Bintang Bano Multifunction Dam which is one of the works of PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) has just been inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (14 /1) Bintang Bano which is located in Brang Rea District, West Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The largest multifunctional dam in NTB is one of the contributions of Brantas Abipraya in the success of the food security program launched by the government, as well as reducing flooding.

"This dam will be able to stem the flow of the Brang Rea River with a total capacity of 65.84 million m3 and an inundation area of ​​277.52 ha. To support agriculture in West Sumbawa, this dam is also capable of irrigating an area of ​​6,695 ha,” said Sugeng Rochadi, President Director of Brantas Abipraya.

In addition, Sugeng also said that in the construction of this dam, Brantas Abipraya was trusted in the construction of the main dam and the completion of the spillway. The construction of this dam is very necessary in controlling the 25 year repeat flood in Taliwang. The reason is, the dam which is included in one of the national strategic projects (PSN) can reduce flooding by about 22 percent or the equivalent of 647 m3/second. Not only that, this dam can also produce raw water of 555 liters/second. In addition, the presence of this dam also provides benefits for a Micro-Hydro Power Plant (PLTM) of 8.8 Mega Watts.

The construction of the dam, which is designed with a height of 72 m, and has a dam length of 497.25 m, this Bintang Bano Multifunction Dam also has the potential to increase tourism spots in NTB. This is due to its location in the middle of the forest surrounded by beautiful natural scenery. Furthermore, Sugeng also said that not only will it support the development of the tourism sector in West Sumbawa Regency, this dam will also later improve the economy of the surrounding community by opening up new job opportunities in the tourism sector.

As additional information, to strengthen its position as a construction BUMN that is expert in dam construction, in addition to the Bintang Bano Multifunction Dam, currently Brantas Abipraya is also completing 15 work packages for dam construction which is also a national strategic project. Some of them are Bener Dam located in Purworejo-Central Java which will become the highest dam in Indonesia, Semantok Dam in Nganjuk, East Java which will later become the longest dam in Southeast Asia, and Ciawi Dam in West Java which is the first dry dam in Indonesia. At the age of 41, Brantas Abipraya is also a construction company that has completed the most dam projects, namely 43 dams.
