Getting to know the Tukul dam, the work of Brantas Abipraya which was recently inaugurated by the president15 February 2021
Pacitan, February 15, 2021 - After being inaugurated by President Joko Widodo yesterday (14/2), the Tukul Dam, created by a state-owned contractor PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero), is ready to be used for irrigation, raw water sources and flood control. Being one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN), this dam is located in Karanggede Village, Arjosari District, Pacitan Regency, East Java.
"This dam was built with a zonal fill type with a watertight core. It is hoped that it can irrigate 600 hectares of irrigation," said Bambang E. Marsono as President Director of Brantas Abipraya.
Bambang added that the length of the dam, which began construction in 2013, is 233 meters, with a top width of 10 meters and a height of 70.3 meters. Its capacity, which reaches 8.7 million cubic meters, can be useful as a raw water provider of 300 liters per second, flood reduction of 42.21 M cubic / second, and can produce electricity of 2 × 132 kilowatts, also conserve water resources and tourism.
The inauguration was marked by pressing the siren button and signing an inscription by President Joko Widodo, on that day the President was also accompanied by the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno and the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawangsa.

For additional information, in September 2020 (1/9) this dam has officially started initial filling. The filling of the tukul dam was marked by the closing of the circumvention tunnel door by the Regent of Pacitan, Indartato together with the Head of the Bengawan Solo River Basin (BBWS) Agus Rudianto, Director of Dam and Lake of the PUPR Ministry Airlangga Marjono and the Head of the Public Works for Water Resources of East Java Province M Abduh M Mattaliti.
"This is a form of Brantas Abipraya's commitment as a BUMN that is always there for Indonesia. Hopefully this large-scale dam construction in Pacitan can provide abundant benefits for the community, strengthen food security and can boost the economy in Pacitan," concluded Bambang.
