Brantas Abipraya Rebuilds NTT After The Disaster

Jakarta, May 4th, 2021 - PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) has continuously provided support in disaster management in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Together with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) in repairing NTT, especially Kupang through the Emergency Response Project to accelerate increased connectivity, precisely the Kupang National Road Management, named Batu Putih Landslides Emergency Response Work Project cs.

 

"We will focus on handling the national road, exactly at Batu Putih Road, so that it can be finished quickly and can be utilized quickly by the community. This is the proof of our commitment as one of the construction SOEs that is always there for Indonesia, this is our efforts to rebuild the infrastructure in Kupang," said Miftakhul Anas, as the Corporate Secretary of Brantas Abipraya.

 

Not without a reason, a number of areas are still isolated after the flash flood disaster caused by the Seroja tropical cyclone in several areas in NTT. This is because many roads were damaged, they were even cut off. Started on April 15th, 2021, Brantas Abipraya conveyed its optimism that it could complete the management of this road on October 15th, 2021. In the future, hopefully, it can open the access for two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles so that the evacuation process can be smoother and evenly handled as soon as possible, also it can be easier for the logistic distribution.

 

"Currently, we are clearing the land from the sediment or silt on the road and measuring it. After this, we will make a permanent management design, and obviously based on the soil investigation data, the design will be made and then evaluated and approved collectively by the Construction Management team leader, the Planning Commitment Maker Officials, and the Head of The Planning Work Unit," added Danang Wicaksana as the Project Manager of the Batu Putih Landslide Emergency Response Work Project cs.

 

He added that in national road management which is about 10 kilometers long with a width of 7 meters, Concrete DPT, Dekker Plate, Shotcrete, Soil Nailing, and Canal work must be carried out because, besides the road landslides on Batu Putih Road, cliff landslides were also occurred due to the flood disaster. The work of Gabions will also be worked on to strengthen the cliffs.

 

Deputy Minister of PUPR, John Wempi Wetipo, has visited and surveyed the site directly (22/4). On that occasion he said that in this disaster, the State must be present for the community, "This is a disaster, that’s why we are focused on building it, so that the people can use the road access," he said.

 

As additional information, it is known that Seroja tropical cyclone storm had hit 10 districts and 1 city in NTT, such as; Kupang City, East Flores Regency (flash flood), Central Malacca Regency, Lembata Regency, Ngada Regency, Alor Regency, East Sumba Regency, Rote Ndao Regency, Sabu Raijua Regency, South Central Timor Regency, and Ende Regency. Apart from the road access that has been cut off, many people's houses were destroyed and this disaster was even reported to have claimed lives.

 

Previously, Brantas Abipraya through Abipraya Peduli had also provided assistance in the form of logistical needs including medicines and vitamins, tea, coffee, instant noodles, sugar. Not only that, but this red plate construction company also delivered rice, liquid milk, cooking oil, snacks, baby equipment such as powder, telon oil, disposable diapers, and baby milk, as well as sanitary napkins for women.

 

"Yes, we are targeting this work to be completed on time. In accordance with what had been conveyed by the Deputy Minister of PUPR, we will focus on completing it by prioritizing the qualities, apposite time, service and OHS, so that the people of NTT can feel the benefits, and the completion of this road can also access the Kupang accelerated development and its surroundings," concluded Miftakhul Anas.
