12 May 2022

Jakarta, 12 April 2022 - Known as a construction BUMN (State-Owned Enterprise) that excels in dam construction, PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) shows its commitment to developing Indonesia through a series of dam works spread across Indonesia, one of which is by building the Jragung Dam in the District Semarang, Central Java. This dam will later be able to supply three areas in Semarang Regency, namely Semarang, Demak and Grobogan. Together with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, Brantas Abipraya will complete package III of this dam.

"The dam in Semarang Regency will begin work in 2020, with an implementation period of 1529 calendar days, so it is targeted to be completed by the end of 2024. Later this dam can meet the agricultural irrigation needs of the people of Semarang Regency," said Miftakhul Anas as Corporate Secretary of Brantas Abipraya.

He added that the Jragung Dam will be able to increase the irrigation supply of D.I Jragung by 475 hectares, so that the dam in Semarang can irrigate 4,528 hectares of agricultural land. In addition to irrigation, this dam is also used as a source of raw water of 1 cubic meter per second. The dam built by Brantas Abipraya is also able to reduce the risk of flooding in the downstream area from 378,000 cubic meters per second to 170,000 cubic meters per second, thereby reducing flooding by 45 percent. Not only that, this dam also has the potential to add tourist destinations in Semarang Regency. Its existence also has the benefit of being a Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) with a capacity of 1,400 KW.

As additional information, showing its superiority in water infrastructure development, in January 2022, one of the dams created by this construction BUMN was recently inaugurated by President Joko Widodo, namely the Bintang Bano Multifunction Dam located in Brang Rea District, West Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). ). This is the largest dam in NTB. Anas said that the works of the Brantas Abipraya dam are real evidence of Abipraya's contribution to the success of the food security program launched by the government, as well as reducing flooding.

In addition to the Bintang Bano Multifunction Dam, currently Brantas Abipraya is also completing 15 work packages for the dam construction which is also a National Strategic Project (PSN). Some of them are Bener Dam located in Purworejo-Central Java which will become the highest dam in Indonesia, Semantok Dam in Nganjuk, East Java which will later become the longest dam in Southeast Asia, and Ciawi Dam in West Java which is the first dry dam in Southeast Asia. Indonesia. Not only that, but also contributing to the construction of the new National Capital (IKN), currently Brantas Abipraya is also completing the Sepaku Semoi Dam in East Kalimantan (Kaltim).

In addition to providing added value to the area around the dam that Brantas Abipraya built, hopefully through the work on water resources infrastructure that is being worked on and has been completed this is the answer to the challenges of climate change that are currently being faced. As is well known, this causes a shortage of water during a prolonged dry season and sudden high rainfall that can lead to catastrophic flooding.

Not only repairing dams with superior infrastructure, through its subsidiary, namely Brantas Energi (BREN), Brantas Abipraya also supports the development of New and Renewable Energy (EBT) in Indonesia through the construction and operation of several PLTM and PLTS.

Several PLTMs that have been built and operating are PLTM Padang Guci-1 3X2 MW, PLTM Sako-1 2X3 MW, PLTM Padang Guci-2 2X3.5 MW and PLTS Gorontalo of 2 MWp. This construction BUMN through BREN targets to be able to operate the Maiting Hulu-2 PLTM in North Toraja, South Sulawesi, this year. He conveyed again by collaborating with PT Wika Industri Energi showing the spirit of synergy through the construction of floating PLTS in State Property (BMN) dams at the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).

“The construction of dams and power plants is very important, this is proof that Brantas Abipraya is always there for Indonesia in preparing infrastructure to support the Government in overcoming the challenges of global climate change. Through the dam, we can increase agricultural productivity, make it easier for the surrounding community to obtain clean water that is useful for the benefit of the community, and improve the community's economy," concluded Anas.
