A peek at the Brantas Abipraya Dam, which was just inaugurated by the President.

Jakarta, 7 September 2021 - The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo has just inaugurated the Kuningan Dam in West Java (31/8). With the turning of the sluice wheel and the signing of the inscription, the Kuningan Dam was worked on in collaboration with two SOEs, namely PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) and PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk. it has officially become operational. With the inauguration of the dam, which is one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN), Brantas Abipraya adds to his collection of dams that have been completed in 2021 after the Tukul Dam and Tapin Dam.

“The inauguration of this dam is one of our commitments in supporting national water and food security. With a capacity of 25.96 million m3, this dam can function to supply water in a sustainable manner for 3,000 hectares (ha) of rice fields," said Sugeng Rochadi as President Director of Brantas Abipraya.

Not only that, Sugeng also said that through the construction of this dam it also proves that Brantas Abipraya has young engineers who excel and often continue to improve their abilities.

The dam, which is located in Randusari Village, Cibeureum District, Kuningan Regency, West Java, also functions as a flood controller, later reducing the risk of local residents being affected by flooding because this dam can reduce flood discharge by 213 cubic meters per second. In addition, this dam also functions as a raw water provider of 0.3 cubic meters per second, and has the potential as a hydroelectric power plant (PLTA) of 500 KW.

Sugeng also hopes that, in addition to providing added value in the region by increasing agricultural productivity, hopefully the existence of this dam can also facilitate the surrounding community in obtaining clean water that is beneficial for the benefit of the community.

Not only that, the Kuningan Dam itself is seen as a potential new tourist attraction in Kuningan Regency. As an additional advantage of this dam, with an area of ​​221 ha, the Kuningan Dam can be enjoyed from both West Java and Central Java.

At the inauguration yesterday, in addition to being accompanied by Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono, President Jokowi was also present with Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil, and Regent of Kuningan Acep Purnama. President Jokowi also requested that the dam be connected to the arrangement of the irrigation network so that the presence of the Kuningan Dam can provide real benefits for providing irrigation water for farmers.
For additional information, after completing this dam, Brantas Abipraya which is known as the most reliable construction BUMN is also currently working on 15 dams located in the country, including the highest dam in Indonesia, namely Bener Dam located in Purworejo-Central Java, Semantok Dam in Nganjuk, Java. East, which will later become the longest dam in Southeast Asia, and the Ciawi Dam in West Java, which is the first dry dam in Indonesia.
